About Me
Gemma Watson
I am a qualified secondary school teacher based in Blackburn, Lancashire. I graduated from The Unversity of Salford in 2009 with a BA Hons degree in French and German with Translation and Interpreting.
Following graduation from university, I worked in a transport company and at Blackburn College before deciding to do my teacher training.
I achieved Qualified Teacher Status in 2012/13 after successful completion of the Graduate Teacher Programme. During my training year I taught French up to GCSE and Spanish to Key Stage 3. Having had no prior knowledge of Spanish, I taught myself the language in order to teach my pupils.
Following my training year I completed my NQT (induction) year teaching French up to GCSE in 2013/14.
In 2014/15 I worked in another secondary school teaching French up to GCSE and Spanish up to Key Stage 3. Whilst on maternity leave in 2015/16, I attended a Spanish GCSE course at Blackburn college, achieving an A* in August 2016.
I also have experience of teaching PSHE and SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) to pupils with additional needs.
I have a passion for football and love spending time with family and friends.

Language Tuition
I offer French, German and Spanish tuition for all ages and abilities. Whether you are looking to learn some basic vocabulary for a holiday or are preparing for your exams, I can offer quality tutoring to support your needs.
We can focus on specific language skills (e.g. reading/writing/speaking/grammar) or we can take a more general approach concentrating on the topics you prefer (e.g. holidays/ordering food/out and about/leisure, etc.)
Group tuition is available at a reduced rate (min 3 people/max 6). Block book 10 lessons and receive 10% discount.
Tutoring available at your home, my home or a neutral location.
Exam preparation
If you feel confident you know the vocabulary and grammar required to get you through your exams, we can concentrate on general exam preparation so you know exactly what to expect when you enter the exam room. This may include listening skills, translation skills, how to pick out key vocab, how to use your knowledge of English or other languages to assist you or how to avoid pitfalls.
